Alexandra "Allie" Eichner had every reason to take the easy road. Ivy League degree. A Bank of America offer waiting. A family legacy to step into. She walked away from all of it and moved to rural Hangzhou, China, a city where nobody spoke English, where she had no job and no contacts. She just had one goal: to earn something that couldn't be given to her.

She came back fluent in Mandarin and with something more valuable than any credential - the understanding that the harder path has a way of compounding.

The pattern had been there her whole life. At 12, she was thrown into a tennis tour in Europe before she was ready. At 22, she was alone in rural China by choice. During the pandemic, she returned to Miami to plant a flag in a market the rest of the world was just beginning to notice.

Now, after 20 years, she is bringing Continuum back to Miami with two of the most anticipated projects in the market - Continuum Club & Residences and Continuum 12000. The city that built the brand is about to be reminded what it looks like.

Those experiences don't just build character. They build businesses.

That is what it means to play the long game.

txt-takeaways2
  • Why Allie moved to rural China and how that decision shaped every business move that followed.

  • The philosophy behind Continuum's site selection: waterfront is the baseline, but the bet is always on finding the single most scarce, irreplaceable piece of real estate in the market.

  • How she led the rezoning effort that created the Continuum Waterfront District in North Bay Village, attending every hearing, reading the zoning code herself, and unlocking value no capital stack could have created.

  • Why the 150,000 SF Mermaid Club at Continuum 12,000 isn't an amenity arms race - it's a thesis about wellness, scarcity, and what wealthy buyers are actually paying for in 2026.

  • The difference between Brickell urban core and true waterfront, and why Continuum's buyer has never changed: the person who wants year-round sunshine and a boat out the back.

  • How the Continuum brand, the only developer-created branded residences in this class, is being positioned for international expansion into Europe's blue zone waterfront markets.

  • What it takes to earn a succession rather than inherit one, and how Allie carved out her own identity within a 40-year legacy while preparing to take the helm at Continuum Companies.

In an industry built on relationships and legacy, Allie continues to go out of her way to earn grit and ensure that succession at the Continuum wasn’t just handed to her, but earned.

Be great,

Jay Roberts
